OpenCell aims to overcome the barriers to entry in synthetic biology research and contribute to the growing collection of frugal and open hardware.

Inspired by a household barbeque lighter, we developed a 23-cent electroporator or ElectroPen, to deliver DNA into E coli cells.
3d-fuge: A 3d-printed Centrifuge for Molecular Biology
Inspired by an ancient children’s whirligig toy, we invented a 20-cent paper-centrifuge that holds potential for anemia and malaria.
